Information Sources
All library helpsheets are available as Adobe Acrobat files, which means that built-in magnification and read aloud options can be used.
A large selection of textbooks are also available in Adobe Acrobat format. See our eBooks page for more information.
Internet accessibility
The library website is W3C validated which improves its accessibility. For customisable browsing, it is equipped with the JISC accessibilty toolbar.
JISC Toolbar
The JISC TechDIS accessibility toolbar is a simple tool for easy customization and support in viewing web pages. As well as options to increase or decrease the size of the text on display, you can set font and page colours to suit. There is a page reading function to have text read out, and a spellchecker (designed for use with online forms). There is also dictionary and a referencing tool to help you source your websites.
This website has the Toolbar built in, and can be activated by clicking on the Toolbar icon found in the top right of each page.
By right clicking on the icon, you can also 'bookmark' the toolbar in your browser for use with any website and there is also an advanced version that can be permanently installed. For more information see the helpsheet.
MyStudyBar
MyStudyBar is a free software package that helps overcome problems that students commonly experience with studying, reading and writing. The tool consists of a set of portable open source and freeware applications, assembled into one convenient package which you can use from your USB stick. For further information and download, visit the MyStudyBar page.
